Livestock Supply & Market Guides
What Does Livestock Really Cost When It Arrives?
The livestock purchase price is only one part of the final cost. To compare offers fairly, count every agreed cost from the animals’ location to the exact delivery point.
What to check before deciding
- Start with the animal price and the exact number of heads accepted after inspection.
- Add farm collection, feed or holding, health checks, documents and local vehicles where applicable.
- Add freight, insurance if requested, applicable charges and transport after arrival, without counting anything twice.
- Divide the total by the number of accepted heads to estimate the average delivered cost per animal.
A common mistake
Two offers cannot be compared fairly if one ends at the export port and the other includes final farm delivery.
Three simple steps
- Write the animal type, quantity, weight and delivery location.
- Check real availability, health requirements, paperwork and written costs.
- Do not confirm a purchase or send money without clear agreed terms.
What to do next
Ask RLB for a written breakdown showing what is included, excluded and subject to later confirmation.
Important: import rules, routes, veterinary conditions and prices can change. Check current official requirements and a shipment-specific written quotation before payment or shipping.
